Tracey and Darren McGown are the driving force behind McGown Creative leading a team of ‘creatives’ including editorsTracey McGown and graphic artists.

Together they have collectively 35 years experience “walking the walk” as professional communications and mediapractitioners, with stellar careers in news media.

As a reporter for both Channel Nine and Seven, Tracey McGown was also Queensland State Producer for Channel 7’s Today Tonight: responsible for putting to air half an hour of news and current affairs every night. Tracey chose and chased stories, dealt with producers, reporters, directors and senior management, and negotiated with and secured talent for exclusive interviews.

In the field Tracey McGown travelled to Malaysia to report on the controversy over the country’s readiness for the Commonwealth Games, the opening of the Kansai Airport in Japan to the Childers Backpacker Hostel. Conflict resolution by children earned her a nomination for a United Nations Peace Award.

From winning an Australian Cinematographers Society Gold Award for shooting Riots in Papua New Guinea for the Nine Network, Darren McGown has worked on programs that set the scene for the TV landscape today – Wombat, World Around Us, Carol at Seven, Seven News and Hinch at Seven.

Moving between the Seven and Nine Networks – he added Wide World of Sports, Extra, The Today Show, A Current Affair and News to his CV.

His experience included filming the Brisbane Broncos first World Cup UK tour, a military coup in Papua New Guinea, an interview with the Whisky A Go Go bomber James Finch in Singapore and a magazine feature on China’s Great Wall.
